What it is for
Weighted bases exist so posts can be moved. Where a post should never move they are just something to walk into and clean around. The flange replaces the base entirely: it bolts to the floor, the post fits into it and the footprint drops to five inches. A decorative cover hides the bolts so the result looks specified rather than improvised. Worth pairing with sockets on the same route where one section has to open occasionally for deliveries or fire access.
