What Niagara hires

A queue that opens again tomorrow morning.

Most of what we send here is not out for an evening. An attraction, a tasting room or a hotel entrance runs the same line every day of the season, which means the equipment is standing in public through weather, through cleaning and through people leaning on it, and it has to look the same at the end of the hire as it did at the start. That is a different specification from a gala: heavier bases, finishes that do not mark, printed panels that can be swapped when the message changes rather than reprinted, and a count with spares in it because something will be knocked over.

Bases that survive being leaned on

Weighted bases as standard rather than as an outdoor extra. A post that is nudged fifty times a day needs to still be where it was put.

Panels that change without reprinting

Sign frames take a new panel when the wording changes. The frame stays out for the season and only the sheet inside it is replaced.

Spares in the count

Belts fray and cassettes get pulled. A seasonal hire is quoted with replacements against it rather than as an exact number.

Where we deliver

The falls, the lake and the wine road.

The region is spread out and the drops are rarely in the same place twice, so an order here is usually planned as a route rather than as a single address. Delivery, setup and collection are quoted on their own lines, and a seasonal hire is normally set up once and collected once with the site running it in between.

  • St. Catharines
  • Niagara-on-the-Lake
  • Welland
  • Thorold
  • Fort Erie
  • Port Colborne
  • Grimsby
  • Lincoln
  • Pelham
  • Wainfleet

Deliveries go across the region, to the places that hold a line:

  • the attractions and viewing platforms along the parkway
  • the hotel lobbies and casino floors above the gorge
  • the tasting rooms and estate lawns along the wine road
  • the theatres and heritage streets by the lake
  • the conference floors and banquet rooms in the city
  • the marinas, canal locks and waterfront parks

Tell us the sites and the order they should be reached in, and the route is planned around the region instead of around one drop.

Worth asking

What a Niagara brief usually asks first.

What does a stanchion hire cost for a season in Niagara?
The weekly rate is the one most attraction queues run on: $39 a week for a black post with retractable belt or a gold post with velvet rope, against $19 for a single day and $29 for three. A longer run is quoted as a sequence of weeks, with delivery and any swaps of printed panels shown separately.
Can equipment stay out for a whole season?
Yes. A seasonal hire is quoted differently from a single date — it assumes the line is set up once, run by your own staff, and collected at the end, with replacement belts and panels available against the order while it is out. Say at the brief stage that it is a season rather than an event and the count comes back with spares in it.
Which finish holds up standing outdoors here?
Stainless and galvanized are the finishes that come back looking like themselves after a run in the open. Powder coat is built for an interior and spray, damp and chips work underneath it over a long outdoor hire, so it is the right answer for a lobby and the wrong one for a viewing platform.
Can one order cover several sites in the region?
Yes, and it is the usual shape here. The region is spread across a dozen municipalities, so a hire is planned as a route with the sites in the order the truck reaches them. Send the addresses together rather than one at a time and they are quoted as one movement.
What do you supply for a tasting room or an estate lawn?
Rope on posts indoors where the room is the selling point, belt posts where a queue has to be held at a door, and weighted bases outdoors on grass or gravel. Printed sign frames take the wording for tastings and routes. It is worth saying which parts are on a lawn, because the base changes and it is a separate item.
