What it is for
Some queues are the same every single day and the only reason they are not bolted down is that the room gets used for something else on Thursday nights. This is the answer to that. The socket is installed once and finished flush with the floor. The post slides in and is as solid as a fixed installation. When the room changes use the post comes out and a cap drops into the socket so the floor is clean and safe to walk on with nothing standing proud of it. No weighted base means far less to store and nothing to drag across a finished floor.
