What Aurora hires
A horse show has two rings, and only one is for watching.
The show ring is where spectators belong, along the rail, with a clear view. The warm-up is where they do not: riders are schooling at pace, horses are fresh, and a child wandering across the path of a canter is the one thing every organiser is working to prevent. So the brief here is two different edges. One holds people back from a rail while letting them watch; the other closes a gap completely and tells people, in writing, that this part of the grounds is not theirs to walk through.
A viewing line along the ring
Rope posts or barricade set back from the arena fence, so spectators stand where they can see without leaning on the rail.
A closed edge at the warm-up
Interlocking steel barricade across every walkway into the schooling area, with a sign holder at each gap stating who may pass.
Crossings where the horses go
A section that opens between the barns and the ring, marked so spectators wait to the side while a horse is led through.
Where we deliver
Through the horse country north of the city.
Most of what goes out here goes to a farm or show ground rather than a building: a gravel lane, a grass parking field and an arena fence somewhere beyond both. Each part of the service — the drop, the layout and the pickup at the end — is quoted as its own item, and a show run by a small volunteer team usually takes the layout, because barricade on uneven ground has to be walked into position section by section.

Deliveries go to the kinds of ground an Aurora show is held on:
- the show grounds and outdoor arenas along the concession roads
- the equestrian centres and their indoor rings
- the private farms and training barns towards King and Schomberg
- the agricultural society fairgrounds nearby
- the town park and its community halls
- the estate lawns and club grounds used for pony club and hunter days
Send a sketch of the grounds showing the ring, the warm-up and where the public parks, and every line is placed from there.
Worth asking
What a show organiser in Aurora asks.
- What will it cost to hire posts and ropes for an Aurora show?
- A gold post with velvet rope and a black post with retractable belt share one price list: $19 a day, $29 for three days, $39 for a week. A weekend show on one set of grounds usually falls in the three-day band. Getting it to the grounds, walking it into place and loading it out when the show is over are quoted on their own lines.
- Will barricade stand on grass and uneven ground?
- Yes. Steel barricade sits on its own feet and hooks to its neighbour, so a run follows a dip in the field without the line breaking. Rope posts on grass need a heavier base than they use on a floor; that base is a separate item, so say which of the lines are on turf.
- How do we stop spectators walking into the warm-up?
- Close every walkway that leads to it, not only the obvious one. Barricade goes across each gap, a sign holder at each one says the area is for riders and grooms, and a single opening is left for officials. Send a sketch of the grounds and the gaps are counted from it.
- Can horses be led through a line of posts?
- Yes, through a section left to open. A length of rope unclips, or a barricade section is lifted aside, at the crossing, and it is marked so spectators wait to one side. It helps to put the crossing where the barn path already runs, so no horse is asked to take a new route through a crowd.
- Can the spectator line carry sponsor panels?
- Barricade covers and sign panels can be printed for the show and hung on the spectator side of a run. They are produced for the order, so send the artwork with the brief. A covered barricade on open ground catches the wind, so mention it if the ring sits in an exposed field.
