What it is for
A weighted base exists so a post can be moved. Where the post is never moved the base is only a trip hazard and a cleaning obstacle. Surface mounting removes it: the post bolts to a five inch flange and the footprint drops to almost nothing. The line stays exactly where it was designed to be with no drift and no daily straightening. A decorative cover hides the flange and the fixings so the finished job looks like part of the building. Worth pairing with removable posts on the same route where one section needs to open for deliveries.
