What Windsor hires
A visitor route across a floor that is still working.
Plant tours, supplier days and family open days put guests on a floor that was laid out for production, not for people in visitor vests. The plant's safety lead decides where the walkway runs; our job is to make that route impossible to misread. That means belt posts along both sides of it, gaps only where the lead wants a crossing, zones around machinery closed off completely and wording on the belts themselves so a visitor looking down at the line still sees the instruction. The route often changes shape from one day to the next as work moves around the building.
Both sides of the walkway
Posts on either edge of the route so a group stays in a single column, with belt tensioned at waist height where people naturally rest a hand.
Printed belts that say why
Wording such as "Visitors keep to this side" or "No entry — equipment moving" printed along the belt, repeated every stretch.
Zones closed on four sides
Belt posts or barricade squared off around a cell, a press or a racking aisle, so the edge of the zone has no open corner.
Where we deliver
Along the river, out to the county and down to the lake.
A plant visit is usually delivered to the shipping office or a receiving door, and the van is expected to follow the site's traffic rules once it is through the gate. Delivery, setup and collection are itemised separately: a facility with a maintenance crew often takes the equipment at receiving and builds the route with the safety lead, and one that would rather keep its crew on the line has the posts set out to the drawing.

Deliveries go to the places a Windsor visit or event takes place:
- the assembly and parts plants on the east side
- tool-and-die shops and machining halls across the county
- warehouses and cross-dock facilities near the border crossings
- the riverfront parks and festival grounds
- the university and college campuses
- the casino hotel and conference halls downtown
Send the visitor route as the safety lead has drawn it, with the crossings and closed zones marked, and the post and belt count is taken straight from the drawing.
Worth asking
What a Windsor plant usually asks first.
- What does it cost in Windsor to rent belt stanchions for a plant tour?
- A black post with retractable belt is $19 for one day, $29 for three days and $39 for the week, and a gold post with velvet rope is the same price. A tour that runs over several shifts or a week of supplier visits usually sits on the weekly rate. Dropping the equipment at receiving, building the walkway and taking it back out are priced on their own lines.
- Who decides where the walkway goes?
- The plant does, through whoever is responsible for safety on the floor. We lay out equipment to the route they give us; we do not choose it, and we do not certify it. The more precisely the drawing shows the crossings and the closed zones, the more exactly the count can be worked out.
- Can the belts carry safety wording?
- Yes. Belts can be printed with the plant's instructions — visitor route, no entry, keep left — and sign frames can take matching panels at each junction. Send the exact wording the safety lead wants used, because it is printed as supplied and made for the order.
- Will belt posts stand on a factory floor?
- On a flat, clean concrete floor, yes, and that is what they are designed for. Oil, dust and floor drains are worth mentioning in the brief, as is any area where a forklift turns close to the line — there a barricade section is sometimes the better choice than a post that can be clipped.
- Can the route change between tour days?
- Yes. Belts retract and posts lift, so a crew can rebuild the walkway around a moved machine or a reorganised aisle without anything new being delivered. If the floor is expected to change, ask for spare posts and belt length in the order.
