What it is for
Free standing posts wander. Staff nudge them, carts clip them and by the end of a week a straight queue has become a rough curve. Magnets fix the layout without drilling a permanent socket into the floor. The base plate goes down once, the post drops onto it and it takes a deliberate pull on the post to lift it off again. Everyday knocks do not move it. Where the floor is already steel, as in a lot of warehouses and loading bays, the post attaches directly with no plate at all which makes closing an aisle a ten second job.
