What it is for
In a tight corridor a surface mounted unit is a projection at shoulder height that people walk into and trolleys catch on. Recessing solves it by putting the mechanism inside the wall cavity and leaving a flat plate on the surface. The face plate can be powder coated to match the wall so the barrier disappears until the belt is drawn across. It is a fit-out product rather than something to retrofit casually since it needs a cavity and a made opening, so specify it while the walls are open.
