What it is for
Anyone standing in a line spends part of it looking down at the top of the post, which makes the label the most reliably viewed surface on the whole barrier and the one almost nobody uses. A QR code there gets scanned. The dome version sits raised with a 3D finish that catches the eye more than a flat label. Coloured cassettes are the other half of this: matching the cassette to the post and belt turns three separate colours into one object and finishes the look properly.
