What Calgary hires
A tent has a door, a bar and no real floor.
Much of what goes out here ends up under canvas. A hospitality tent on a park lawn, a corporate marquee beside the showgrounds or a pavilion at a private party is a room whose walls are fabric, with a single doorway everybody uses and a floor that is either turf or temporary flooring laid over it. Inside, the jobs are those of a hotel function — hold the entry, separate the guest list from the walk-ups, keep a route open to the bar — except that the posts stand on something soft and the door is a flap rather than a frame.
Entry control at the flap
A rope line or a belt lane outside the tent doorway, so arrivals are checked before they step inside rather than after.
Posts on flooring and turf
On raised tent flooring a standard base is fine; on bare turf the post takes a heavier base, which is quoted as a separate item.
Zones inside the canvas
Velvet rope divides a hosted area from the general floor, and a runner laid through the entrance marks the way in.
Where we deliver
Lawns, showgrounds and foothills acreages.
A tent site is rarely at the front door of anything, so the drop is planned to where the tent crew is working and how far a trolley can go before the grass begins. Delivery, setup and collection appear as three distinct lines on the quote, and a marquee usually takes the setup, because the line inside is laid after the flooring is down and the tables are placed.

Deliveries go to the sites a Calgary tent is usually pitched on:
- the showgrounds beside the Elbow and their hospitality lawns
- the city parks and river islands let for private functions
- golf club lawns on the edges of the city
- private acreages and ranch properties in the foothills
- hotel terraces and patios with a marquee over them
- university playing fields and corporate campus grounds
Tell us where the tent stands, what is underfoot inside it and which side the doorway faces, and the posts arrive matched to the floor.
Under canvas
What a Calgary tent brief tends to ask.
- What are your stanchion rental rates in Calgary?
- For a tent, gold posts strung with velvet rope and black posts fitted with retractable belt share one tariff: $19 per day, $29 for three days and $39 weekly. Delivery to the site, the layout under the canvas and the collection afterwards are each quoted apart from those rates.
- Will stanchions stand on tent flooring?
- Yes. Raised tent flooring is firm and level, so a post on its standard base stands on it much as it would in a ballroom. Say whether the flooring runs right up to the doorway or stops short of it, because a post that ends up on the turf beyond the edge needs a different base.
- What do posts need on bare grass?
- A heavier base than they use indoors, and that base is priced as an extra line on the order. On soft turf a belt under tension tugs its posts inward until they tilt, so a velvet rope, which hangs rather than pulls, keeps a lane straighter. For an entry lane on grass, rope on heavy-based posts is the usual answer.
- Can you lay a carpet through the tent entrance?
- Yes. A red carpet runner goes out with the posts and rope on one order, and it can run from the path to the doorway and on across the flooring inside. Say whether it starts on grass or on paving, because that decides how its edges are held down.
- Can we keep hosted guests apart from the general floor?
- Yes. Velvet rope strung between chrome or gold posts is the usual way, because it divides the space without looking like a barrier in photographs. A printed panel in a sign frame at the gap tells guests which side they belong on, and the rope unclips to widen the opening as the tent fills.
