What it is for
The dome base went out of fashion for a while and has been coming back, mostly because the rooms it suits never went anywhere. It has more presence than a flat base and a softer outline, which works in a space with cornices and carpet and looks wrong in a glass lobby. Paired with a ball finial it is the most traditional setup we sell. Worth knowing before you order: a dome takes up slightly more floor than a profile base and stands taller at the edge, so in a tight corridor the low profile version is the safer pick.
