What it is for
Fixed length barriers force you to measure first and buy per opening. An expanding one covers a range instead, which is why facilities teams with dozens of different doorways end up standardising on them. It pulls out to the width needed, locks and folds back to something that hangs on a hook when the area reopens. Red and white for hazard, yellow and black for caution. Not a crowd barrier in the stadium sense, an access control barrier for keeping people out of somewhere they should not walk.
