What it is for
Anywhere people fill in paperwork while queuing there is a moment where they look for a surface and end up using a wall, a knee or somebody's back. A table on the post removes it. It slides onto a stanchion you already own so the fix costs one part rather than new furniture, and it can move down the queue as the layout changes. Built heavy because in these environments it gets leaned on rather than used gently.
