What it is for
There is a wide gap between a paper thin aisle runner and event carpet and it shows up immediately on camera. A thin runner creases where it is walked on and photographs as a strip of felt. Proper carpet has weight, lies flat and reads as a surface rather than a covering. Bound edges are the other tell, since an unbound edge frays within one event and curls at the corners. Cut to order means the runner fits the walkway instead of you rounding up to a stock size.
